Ogasawara Research Fund

Request for support for Ogasawara research

As the only university with a research facility on the Ogasawara Islands, our university has more than 50 years of experience in Ogasawara research. Until the 1990s, natural sciences research was the mainstream, but in recent years, humanities and social sciences research has also been actively conducted. With this track record as a backdrop, we function as a think tank in the policies for nature restoration, measures against invasive species, and promotion of ecotourism in the Ogasawara Islands, a World Heritage Site.
However, the Ogasawara Research Facility, which serves as the base for this research, is aging and has been damaged by typhoons, which has resulted in sudden repairs being required, and various other expenses in addition to the costs of education and research activities.
We would appreciate your continued support so that we can continue our research activities in Ogasawara.
