Accounting Section, Management Department, Hino Campus, Tokyo Metropolitan University [Recruited in April 24]
■Introducing my current job
We mainly handle work related to the renovation of the experimental buildings, work related to facility maintenance on campus, and budget/accounting work.
■What has been difficult so far?
A new laboratory building is currently under construction at the Hino Campus. As the large-scale construction work was carried out while the university was running, it was difficult to coordinate the process within the university and with the construction contractor to ensure that classes, research, etc. were not disrupted by the construction work. It was also difficult to provide explanations to the university and consider alternative plans in the event that something that could not be accommodated occurred.
■What made you happy?
When a task is completed, there is a sense of accomplishment and happiness. I also feel that the work is rewarding when I receive words of gratitude from students and faculty when I repair facilities.
■What do you usually keep in mind?
I have priorities for work, but I try to complete the requested work as quickly as possible.
■What's the atmosphere like at work?
I feel like this is a workplace where I feel comfortable asking questions and seeking advice when I have a problem. Also, many of the people here are friendly and I enjoy working with them every day.
■What made you want to apply?
I changed jobs and joined a corporation. Originally, I worked at an education-related venture company, but I became interested in working in an actual educational setting and decided to apply to become a university employee. One of my motivations for applying was that it was the same university I graduated from.
■What is the difference between the image you had at the beginning and after joining the company?
I had a strong image of working at a desk and dealing with students at the counter, but I was a little surprised to find out that there was a lot of work outside the office, and it required physical strength.
■What kind of work would you like to do in the future?
I'm interested in all types of work, but I'd like to work in a job where I have to deal with a lot of students.
■What are your future aspirations?
As a corporate employee, I want to do my best in the work in front of me so that I can grow every day.
■A message to everyone aiming to become a corporate employee
I believe that a corporation has a variety of tasks and is a workplace where you can experience many things and grow. I look forward to working with you in such a workplace.
