M. Human Resources Development Section, General Affairs Division, General Affairs Department N (Female employee) [Recruited in April 22]
■Introducing my current job
We handle staff training, staff recruitment (mainly part-time contract staff), and create data books and corporate staff handbooks published by corporations.
■What has been difficult so far?
About three months after joining the company, I started working on data book creation. I managed the overall process, including exchanging manuscripts with each department and vendor, but it was very difficult to proceed with the work due to time constraints and the presence of other parties.
■What made you happy?
I work as a staff member to guide test takers during recruitment exams, etc., but when I receive words like "thank you" or "I admire you" from someone who has actually been offered a job, regarding the way I treated them during the exam, etc. I was very happy.
■What do you usually keep in mind?
As I proceed with my work, I always keep in mind that I am not alone, but that there are others involved, and I try to proceed with the perspective of how I can explain things, communicate things, etc. to make it easier for the other person to understand.
■What's the atmosphere like at work?
There are many employees who are kind at times and strict at times, and I think it's a very comfortable workplace to work in.
■What made you want to apply?
When I was in my third year at university, I couldn't figure out what I could do or what I wanted to do in the future, and I was worried about job hunting. When I went to the university's employment office for advice because of my anxiety, I burst into tears, but the staff members kindly encouraged me. At that time, I thought that there were many students who had the same concerns as me, so I applied for this program in the hope that I could help them.
■What is the difference between the image you had at the beginning and after joining the company?
Even though I have studied, I thought that working at a higher education institution would give me many opportunities to interact with students and faculty, but in my current department, most of my work is with staff, so I am not satisfied with that point. I felt a little different.
■What kind of work would you like to do in the future?
This is what made me want to apply, so I would like to work in career support.
■What are your future aspirations?
During my first year of employment, I was busy just working on what was in front of me, but in my second year, I had more opportunities to work alone and was able to grasp the big picture. I have become able to consider my successes and failures as my own and think about their causes and solutions. In the future, I would like to be able to think about better ways to proceed even with the same work, and to be able to make suggestions and communicate things on my own rather than being passive.
■A message to everyone aiming to become a corporate employee
Universities and technical colleges have a lot more variety to do than you might imagine, so I think it's a workplace where you're always making new discoveries and finding what you want to do. It's a place with a variety of possibilities and where you can do rewarding work.
Given the current social situation, the work of university and technical college staff is not at all easy. I want to work with people who have the passion to tackle many challenges and create better products.
