General Affairs Section, General Affairs Division, General Affairs Department (dispatched to Tokyo) K. T (male employee) [Recruited in April 21]
■Introducing my current job
Currently, I am being dispatched to the Documents Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Internal Affairs and Communications for practical administrative training. As a person in charge of policy and legal affairs, my duties include sorting out the facts and confirming the underlying laws and regulations (laws, ordinances, precedents, etc.) regarding legal consultations received from various bureaus within the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and providing answers that will lead to problem-solving. We are doing so.
■What has been difficult so far?
In my third year at the company, I was dispatched to Tokyo, and it was my first time working in a legal field. Because I had little knowledge of the law, I had to learn terms I didn't understand and legal interpretations from scratch, which was very difficult.
■What made you happy?
I felt fulfilled and happy when I was able to lead to resolution of legal issues from various bureaus.
■What do you usually keep in mind?
When responding to legal consultations, we check the underlying laws, facts, and precedents to ensure that we can respond appropriately.
I also try to work in close communication with my supervisor, who I am paired with, so that we can always share information.
■What's the atmosphere like at work?
I was dispatched from university to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and although I was often confused, I am very grateful for the careful guidance I received from my experienced supervisor. During my lunch break, I often go out to lunch with other staff members from the same policy and legal affairs line, and we have a fun time talking about various topics. Of course, the work is demanding, but I think it's a rewarding workplace.
■What made you want to apply?
When I was a university student, I had the experience of volunteering at a seminar, and it was there that I discovered the joy of learning academically. From that experience, I remember applying to this corporation because I wanted to become a staff member who could support as many students as possible with curiosity and active learning.
■What is the difference between the image you had at the beginning and after joining the company?
University work has the image of dealing with students, but you will have the opportunity to interact with people from a variety of positions, including faculty, Tokyo residents, government employees, and vendors.
■What kind of work would you like to do in the future?
I would like to do work related to human resource development of faculty and staff, administrative reform, and work related to students.
■What are your future aspirations?
Through my dispatch to Tokyo, I gained very valuable experience working in government. In the future, I would like to contribute to the development of universities and technical colleges by utilizing the knowledge and experience I gained through my dispatch.
■A message to everyone aiming to become a corporate employee
The work at universities and technical colleges is more diverse than you might imagine, and allows you to grow through a variety of experiences. I look forward to working with you at the company.
